Education

Born in 1950 he was educated at Stowe School, Davies School, and Twickenham Technical College before becoming a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Civil Engineer in 1981.

He became a Chartered Structural Engineer in 1985 and obtained his Master of Science Degree in Structural Engineering and Foundations in 1991 from The Polytechnic of Central London (now Westminster University).

Also in 1991 he was awarded a Certificate in Public Sector Management from Coventry Polytechnic while working at the time for the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham as a Building Control Group Manager.

He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Building Control in 1996 having previously been a corporate member since 1991.

In February 1997 he passed the examination of the Construction Industry Council. He subsequently joined the Management Board of the Construction Industry Council Approved Inspector Registrar (CICAIR). This body meets 4 or 5 times a year to review issues relating to both Corporate and Individual Approved Inspectors.

Building Control Experience of complex multi-disciplinary projects includes the following projects whilst at:-

1982 to 1986 District Surveyor's service St.Marylebone and Paddington,
1986 to 1990 London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham,
1990 to 1992 London Borough of Islington,
1993 to 1996 London Borough Merton, and
1996 to June 2011 London Borough of Ealing.
July 2011 to date London Borough of Sutton.

  1. The Greater London Councils St.Marylebone District Surveyor's Office: Picture of Building

    1. Refurbishment and extension at Wigmore Street to form Shops, Offices with Atria, basement vehicle delivery area, and residential accomdation.


    2. Various new offices, shops, and commercial properties


    3. New block of flats with pressurisation of air in single stair
